With Drew’s indication of “Maybe someday soon”, Satveer surmised that the CD wasn’t necessarily a token of love, but more of an attempt at some sort of peacocking. Satveer couldn’t help but imagine how Drew’s actions wouldn’t be too out of place in a nature documentary narrated by the beautiful, mellow tones of the muggle, Sir David Attenborough…
"Here we have, a male human. This male human, of the wizarding genus, is attempting to woo that of a female counterpart. These particular types of wizards are often seen wrapped in a blank, emotionless uniforms, that are designed to quash any attempt at mating rituals, and impede all sexual interaction between them. As a result, they will often resort to tokens of personal affection. Gifts of jewelry, baked goods or scripture are normally the currency of love, but in this case, this wizard is looking to music. It seems, he hopes that his prospective mate, dances, to the same beat”.

Satveer was so revved up for poking and nosing around Drew’s affairs that when Drew complimented his flying carpet event, it startled him. “Err, thanks” he stuttered, “I’m glad you liked it.” Even though the event had achieved its intention in getting people to notice him, Satveer was still a little nervous in receiving praise for it. “I’ve been thinking about doing something again.” He said confidently “I’ve spoken with a couple of people who missed it first go, and I thought I could do it again for them.” Whilst it wasn’t the answer to the question Drew posed, it was at least true. Being honest with himself, Satveer hadn’t thought of any other school activities. It didn't occur to him that he should or even could. He had his carpet and his drawing but that was a private thing. At that point, he felt like a one trick pony. It wasn’t necessarily a point of contention, but in that instant, he thought he needed to defend his position. He perceived that there was a level of expectation from his peers to do more.

Without thinking, and in what could only be categorised as ‘a subconscious display of strength in a momentary thought of weakness’, Satveer’s mouth wrote a cheque that only later would he realise he maybe couldn’t cash.
“I have been thinking about doing a couples carpet event” He hadn’t. He was lying! “And since Valentine's day is coming up, carpets by candle light could cool”. He paused, looking at Drew for affirmation, whilst inside his head he was screaming Shut up Satveer! “If I can get it organised, maybe you could take Darlene?”

Only once he’d stopped talking did the gravity of what he’d said become clear. If Drew took Darlene to a candle lit carpet even on valentines day, Kit wouldn’t want to go with him, even if she wanted to go with him. And even if she did, she’d be focusing on Drew and Darlene the whole time. But then, what if Kit found out he’d planned the whole even in a mouth fart to Drew and was actually the one that established their courtship.

        • I possibly ought to. - Satveer, Fri Apr 13 06:56
Drew’s noncommittal “maybe” was potentially the out Satveer needed. If he didn't have the audience, then he didn't need to plan it. Placing the Kit issue to one side, the logistics of such an event,... more

“ Nah. ” Well, so much for talking about crushes. Drew had a bunch of friends, but he couldn’t really talk to any of them about this. If he tried to talk to Kit about Darlene, she just called her a... more
