I'll cling to the hope!

The blonde fifth-year did not know what to expect from his invitation. Yes, he wanted to ge to know Claudia better, without the interference of people around them. That just made things awkward and uncomfortable, at least for Caleb. Besides, having Connor Farnon being his annoying self just dampened his mood. The younger boy always pretended to be better than Caleb, well at least that what the blonde felt when Connor got standoffish around him. It was a bit annoying, if he was honest. Though since it seemed to make Claudia happy to dealt with his annoyance with a smile. The poor witch had endured more than most during the year. He really thought Claudia deserved better, especially since she had apologized over what had happened.

The blonde smiled and shrugged. He was sure Claudia’s concerns were legitimate. He didn't understand her world and he would never. Her upbringing had centuries of traditions and ideals, and he was no one to put what she thought into question. He didn't judge and hopefully she didn't judge him.

“I won't pretend to understand where you are coming from,” he said honestly. “But I do know you need friends helping you through everything,” he finished with a smile.

Caleb mentally slapped himself for putting himself into the friendzone, but he was a bit desperate. Maybe after their date Claudia could see him as something more than that. The blonde was well aware that in terms of competition he was in the lowest tier possible. How could he compete against people in her same social circle? Caleb knew he had everything to lose when it came to her, but he had never backed down from anything before.

“My main purpose is to have fun with you,” he continued. “You can choose the activity that you think won't have negative effects on your reputation,” he smiled and leaned towards Claudia. He gently placed his hand over hers, but retracted it with sheepish grin. He was sure she wouldn't think it was proper. “I just want to spend time with you,” he finished with a hopeful smile.
