Was it possible to blush so much that it started at the top of your head and went all the way to her toes? Her entire body definitely felt warm. And tingly. Absolutely tingly. Her hands lightly fell to the table and busied themselves with closing up the box in front of her. The outline for her Cultural Studies paper ended up at the center of her workspace once again, which was much easier to focus on than how nice DJ seemed to be all the time. He and Drew were very similar that way. They were just so nice.

He asked about her family, which was also easier to talk about than coming up with a response to his compliment. “I’m a halfblood,” she answered quickly, looking up from her paper as she did so. “My mom’s side is all witches and wizards. My dad’s side is Muggle; they don’t know about the magic. I’m an only child, so I imagine it’s much easier to keep that under wraps. Like, if my auntie’s kids were all magic, that would be much harder to keep a secret. There are five of them.”

She couldn’t imagine keeping it a secret if there were a ton of children to keep up after. On her dad’s side of the family, she was the only magical kid that she knew about. Her dad thought it was special but also had very loud opinions about the magical world keeping itself hidden that he made sure to express whenever he could. This tended to be around her mom, because she was the only person patient enough to listen to his rants. He just hated that the magical world sat back while terrible things happened in the world, seemingly doing nothing to help. Remington also wondered what the justification was for the magical world to stay out of certain conflicts and genocides when a wave of a wand would certainly help.

“Did you move a lot, being part of a military family?” Remington asked curiously. “I moved a lot when I was a kid, but that’s because my mom is a Muggle Anthropologist - a witch who studies Muggles and Muggle cultures - so we always bounced around for her work.”

After a moment, she glanced back at her outline and highlighted the third bullet point in pink. She needed more research to be able to write that paragraph. She didn’t glance at DJ’s work, focused on her own, and asked a question before realizing it. “Do you still have a girlfriend?” She continued staring at her paper, ignoring the warm blush that was reappearing across her features. “You said your uncle sent you that stuff when you had a girlfriend for the first time. Did - do you have one still?”
