Having extricated herself from the new dress and clothed herself once more in her original outfit for the day, Claudia took a few moments to tease her hair and eyebrows back into uniform neatness while Camilla was apparently waiting to show her something. Opening the door again, this time with what was about to become her most recent purchase hanging from her fingertips, the third year took in first Camilla’s excited expression, and then the garment that was open to opinion. The dress itself was black, long, plain: nothing mention-worthy. However its focal point was the semi-translucent cape that adorned its shoulders. Claudia pursed her lips and tilted her head a little to one side while she considered the gown.

“It’s very striking,” she said after a pause. “You are very tall and slender,” Claudia commented, not intending to flatter Camilla, but merely stating facts, “so it would suit your figure.” She tilted her head the other way. “I like it,” she concluded, with a small smile, perhaps communicating her uncertainty that Camilla would genuinely consider her opinion if the older girl had already taken to the dress. “Although it would have to be a particular occasion to wear it,” she considered as she stepped from the fitting area back onto the shop floor, blonde curls bouncing dutifully on her shoulders. It was too dark for a wedding, too elaborate for a funeral, and too attention-seeking to wear to a party that specifically celebrated another person - like a birthday, or particular professional achievement - unless the sole aim of attending was to draw attention from the guest of honor. It was perfect for that.

“Are you going to try it on?” Claudia queried. She wasn’t going to encourage Camilla, the way she had herself been encouraged, because quite honestly Claudia didn’t care to see someone she was not wholly familiar with trying on an outfit she may never see worn. She appreciated that Camilla had been there to comment on her own find, so of course she was prepared to return the favor if Camilla did decide to try the dress, but she would not be sorry if that scenario did not occur. Besides, it was getting near the time Claudia would have to set off again, and she wanted first to have a look at the jewelry and accessories that might match her new outfit - Merlin knew she possessed nothing suitable.
