Can I Join in?

Every bone in Tains body was yearning to be outside.

But since she’d gotten to RMI, she hadn’t had the time. If it wasn’t classes, it was homework. She had been forcing herself to sit and concentrate, often with mixed results. She had decided enough was enough when her incessant foot tapping in class elicited a very irritated “Ahem!” from the student sitting next to her.

She had promised herself yesterday that she’d make time to go out to the Quidditch Pitch and at least run around the field, even if she didn’t have time to get onto a broom.

When they'd first toured the school, the Quidditch Pitch had been one of the first things to catch her eye. Like most parts of the school, it was hard to believe they were underground. She could practically see herself flying through the air during a match, hearing the loud roar of the crowds and feeling the rush of adrenaline.

It was a clear day, cloudless, a soft breeze whipping up loose grass. It would be the perfect day for a quick spin on a broom. Maybe she would get a school broom. She wouldn’t take too long. Just a quick round and she’d be on her way in time for class.

As she approached the Quidditch Pitch, she saw someone had beat her to it. She couldn't see who it was, but could tell that they had a broom in their hands. Though they had not yet mounted it, they were holding it confidently. She could tell it wasn't their first time handling one.

She debated turning back. She didn't want to disturb anyone.

Well, there's plenty of space…

“Hello!” she called, making her way over. She saw that it was a boy not much older than herself. She didn't recognize him from the commons so he must've been from another house. “It's a good morning for ride isn't it? I was thinking about taking a ride myself."
