Rose was not unfamiliar with the concept of being drunk. She definitely had been drunk (once - the first time Marissa’s Aunt Jessie had gotten them alcohol; never again, because Rose was not a fan of the feeling she didn’t have control over what she was doing, so now if she drank at all she kept herself at ‘slightly tipsy’) and Marissa had definitely been drunk. Sometimes Marissa’s parents drank, and Rose’s own stepmother had been known to have a bit too much wine at a holiday meal. But none of Rose’s exposure to people being drunk had resulted in them acting like a floppy idiot in the middle of a Quidditch Pitch. Ruben was a four-star idiot on any given day (Rose refused to give him the title of five-star idiot because she refused to admit that Ruben could be the best at anything) but the alcohol he had apparently acquired somehow had made Ruben a special kind of stupid.

Admittedly, it was the kind of stupid that let Rose land a kick, which she appreciated, because Ruben deserved at least one kick for the level of inconsiderate that he’d been after he’d slept with her best friend. But it was also the kind of stupid that was rapidly annoying the living daylights out of Rose. She was, in fact, tolerant of some kinds of stupid, contrary to popular belief. Emmett wasn’t the stripiest zebra in the herd but she - well she liked him and maybe even like liked him, he was kind of dopey but also cute and he absolutely doted on the stupid little ball of fluff she’d given him, and -

There were better things to think about at this particular moment, such as how utterly screwed Ruben was. It was a thought that almost made Rose giggle, except that Ruben giggled at that same exact moment and it was just a purely unfortunate noise. And then he was poking her shoe? What in the world was going on here? There was no way that regular alcohol could make Ruben this dumb. He was like a skinny little Scandinavian troll; not enough brain cells to even carry its own club without giving itself a concussion.

Hands on hips, the curly-haired blonde looked down at the idiot in front of her and sighed deeply. As much as she really did want to kick Ruben again (and perhaps in a more painful place) she actually did have a responsibility as a school prefect and Rose suspected that part of that responsibility involved not killing the people in the House she was supposed to be representing. Now getting them in a heap of trouble - that she was down for.

“I can’t kill you, I don’t want to get expelled,” she informed the prone figure. “Now stand up, jackass.”

Rose aimed another kick, harder this time, at Ruben’s ribs. It was encouragement, not taking advantage of the situation. Really.

  • Chill, bro, I'm just kidding around - Ruben, Tue Nov 14 23:50
Some of his very metal fizzley sparks seemed to have developed their own willpower. That was not particularly surprising, because metalheads had some of the most independent willpowers around and of... more

Nej scratch that, Rose had really fun shoelaces. The funnest. Which wasn’t proper English grammar, but (a) it was absolutely proper Swedish grammar (b) he was just talking to himself in his own head... more
        • Well I wouldn't go that far - Rose, Thu Dec 7 09:57
All right, Rose would admit that the situation was at least entertaining. Ruben, who was usually fully in control of himself and a complete smart-ass, was acting like a particularly stupid toddler.... more
          • How humble you are - Ruben, Sat Dec 16 12:50
What was happening? First Rose was kicking him, then accusing them of not being friends after all (pffft as if), and now she was throwing herself at him. This was all very strange. Maybe it was... more
            • Or something - Rose, Sat Dec 16 13:23
One way or another Rose found herself back on her feet, and she chose to accept the reality in which Ruben had not helped her up, even if helping her up had meant pushing her off him. Irritated, she... more
