This could be problematic

Being buried under work seemed to be Bryn’s life these days. It wasn’t really that he had to do so, but it was entirely his choice. It had become increasingly apparent to the fourth year in that past few months that if he was going to do absolutely anything useful with his life that he had better figure out what it was. Naturally this meant that when a professor had appeared in front of him in the library various papers scattered everywhich way and he got a stern look from the librarian for the noise it caused. The Draco had let out an annoyed huff, irritation clear in his eyes as he did not like being interrupted. A summons to the Greenhouses for an impromptu Magizoobotany class was not exactly on his to do list at the moment.

Even so, he was taking the class anyway. The Scandinavian boy was leaning towards a career in healing and had aligned his elective as such. Magizoobotany was occasionally interesting even if it was dull, but it had its own importance in the field. So, the boy packed up his papers and textbooks and made his way towards the Greenhouse. It was an arduous trek, considering he had no interest it in the moment, feeling rather sluggish from too many hours in the library. Regardless, he was one of the first few in the greenhouse and for a moment, he thought that maybe he’d gone completely deaf. It was totally quiet and the Draco looked around with a confused look on his face. Turning towards where their professor was, Bryn caught the faint buzz of his voice. He was tired and that was a problem because it meant that hearing was ten times harder than it needed to be.

Rubbing his eyes a bit, Bryn tried his best to focus on the motions of Professor Bennett’s mouth and the small amount he could hear with one good ear. Most of it was broken, but he got the gist. Some type of creature was loose in the greenhouse and the plants were silenced. Definitely not totally deaf. Goals of this class were to not get stung and try not to get eaten by an angry plant that he couldn’t hear. It was bound to be a trying afternoon and the fourth year couldn’t wait to be able to crawl back to his dorm after. Most students rushed over to get gloves and Bryn joined them, tucking his hands into the rough fabric. He’d made the right choice in wearing longer sleeves today. Being cold all the time had some advantages. The fabric would make it harder for him to get stung, although not impossible.

Suddenly, Bryn’s thoughts were disrupted by a cacophony of plants. He winced as the noise filtered in through his right ear, the quiet to loud transition sending his head into a spiral. Swallowing back a slight bit of nausea, the Draco steady himself as best he could and pulled out his wand. The general chaos had him all over the place, trying desperately to focus on just one thing. If he could concentrate through all this and not get stung, it would be a miracle. “Stupefy!” Conveniently, being half deaf had certain advantages as well, including relatively superior eyesight – just one compensatory reflex he’d picked up over the years. The small streak of blue he’d caught sight of - and stunned - plummeted toward the ground straight towards someone.

“Hey, watch out!” He called, hoping that whoever it was could hear over the din. Chances were that it was easy if you weren’t mostly deaf, but he couldn’t be certain with some people. Norah had selective hearing and only heard what she wanted to, and it certainly could have been one of those situations. Either way, he made his way towards the person, thinking maybe he could stop it with another spell or something. Otherwise, he’d probably be apologizing.

Arthur was floating. Literally. Hovering a few inches off the ground, he looked like a veritable angel of chaos: he was, for some reason, barefoot, generally covered in dirt, glasses askew, and his... more
