Nolan Ramsey
Taste-testing sounds good to me
Mon Feb 19, 2018 15:35

Nolan liked flying but he didnít like brooms. His half of a left thigh didnít really hold together with his right on a broom. It didnít really sit the right way on a horse either, but that was why he had the special prosthesis for riding that hooked onto the special stirrup he had on Quintís saddle. Nolan wasnít sure how much a different prosthetic design would help with a broom because of the whole dangling aspect but he didnít care enough about riding a broom to find out. He had Quint when he was at home and as far as he was concerned he didnít need to be airborne otherwise, even if he missed it at RMI.

A flying carpet, though. For a carpet you probably just had to sit. No fussing around with legs. It sounded fun to try at least once. Having spent Sunday morning sleeping in and not doing homework (doing homework was for Sunday nights), Nolan made his way to the Finer Diner for lunch (cheeseburger and fries) and then headed over to the Quidditch Pitch.

He hadnít recognized the name on the flier when he saw it, but it sounded like the kind of name that someone who would own a flying carpet would have. Arriving about ten minutes late, Nolan saw that the person in charge was the kid heíd talked to at Myffiís guilt breakfast last year. The younger student had introduced himself as Sam then, which Nolan decided he was going to just keep using because it was easier. Nolan didnít volunteer for the demonstration because uhhh no, but he nodded along with Samís explanation of how to fly the carpet. It made sense to him. Well, kind of. Nolan had never heard doing magic or using an object with your aura. The Oklahoman chalked that up to weird Eastern magic stuff. It was basically like petting a horse and letting it smell you before you saddled up, though.

Sam took his volunteer for another lap and the crowd kinda shuffled around. ďYou wanna partner?Ē Nolan asked a student who was near the back of the pack with him. ďDibs on sitting in front and steering first, though.Ē If Nolan was riding a flying carpet for the first time, he wasnít just gonna be a passenger.
