It was a truth universally understood and accepted (sorry not sorry, Nick) that Francine Loved Halloween. It was nothing to do with the horror or scary aspects - as one might imagine based on the fact that, well, she was Francine - and in fact she rather loathed those elements. But she loved costumes and the general magic of dressing up, but she especially, especially loved one means of dressing up: group costumes.

She always made Nick dress up with her, but this year, she had a boyfriend to force into itchy or otherwise unpleasant materials for her own enjoyment. And now that Nick knew she was dating Lucien (even if he was, ah, less than enthusiastic about the idea of her dating his roommate), everything was fine, by her standards, for their costumes to be a group!!

Francine gave a final twirl to her mirror, adjusting her elf ears as she slowed, before heading out to meet up with Lucien. She and Nick were already set to be Zelda and Link, so in creative, inclusive little brain, she’d decided that Lucien could be Ganon. It might’ve worked better if they’d gone with her other idea, which was to be Leia and Luke and therefore Lucien could’ve been Han Solo, but Nick preferred the Zelda theme. She’d given him the final choice between the two, because she was nice like that.

She was supposed to meet up with Lucien at the edge of the Pitch, but, she realized as she was the way, she was running a bit late, and when she got there, she didn’t see him. Which was odd, because a boy covered in green skin paint - she had recommended paint over any kind of charm because it was truer to the spirit of Halloween, in her opinion - should have stuck out. She figured he must have gone on without her or something, so she just scrolled on in herself. Deciding the snack table was the most likely place to find him, just based on that area at least “having a purpose” versus just “floating aimlessly in a crowd” or whatever His Royal Cynicalness might have thought, she went that way first.

She didn’t find him, but she did grab a cookie. That was a good start. Beginning to feel a bit frustrated - she didn’t know if there was a registry for the costume contest, but she fully intended to enter with Lucien AND Nick, if she could hunt him down next - Francine approached someone near by and, with a smile, asked, “Have you seen my boyfriend?” She paused briefly. “He’s green.”
