Tains Basilio
Oh no I'm late for anime, I mean, Spellwork school [@Andres]

Tains was late. Really late. And on her first day too.

She had to skip breakfast and the loose, lopsided braids she’d barely managed to do had long since undone themselves. They slapped against her face, still tied at the base, as she flew through the hallways. She didn’t know why her alarm hadn’t sounded off. Had she even set it? She couldn’t remember as she flew down the halls, nearly colliding into several students and billowing through the dark robes of a startled professor.

“Sorry!” Tains called, cringing a bit as she continued running. She couldn’t stop now but if she saw them in the hall later, she’d make sure to give a formal apology.

On top of the failed alarm, she had completely overlooked the bulletin board outside the common rooms. She had ended up standing in the doorway of the supposed assigned classroom, chest heaving for air and hair tousled across her forehead, as she stared at rows of empty seats. It was only with the help of a sympathetic passing professor, who had saw her near tears, that she found out she was all the way across the school from where she ought to be.

She flew onto the Quidditch Field, leaping over a student who’d been lying on the way and nearly tripping as she landed. She saw her class huddled in the middle of the field, now colored red instead of it’s typical green. She skidded to a stop at edge of the group, hands on her knees as she tried to catch her breathe. Some students glanced back and she quickly slapped one palm over her mouth in an attempt to try and muffle the sound of her harsh breathing.

Professor McKindy was beginning to demonstrate a spell. His hat, once pink bubbles, transformed into frogs and in quick and magnificent flicks of the wrist, he’d draw them closer with bright gold rope. No matter how many times she saw it, Tains was always incredibly awed by magic spells. She stood on her tiptoes and moved the hair from her eyes in an attempt to try and get a better look.

The professor then announced that students were to split up into groups, with at least one older student. Tains sank back to the ground. She hadn’t spoken to any older students since she’d got here. Whenever she passed one in the halls, she’d shrink against the walls, giving them enough (maybe even too much) space to pass. She’d often press her face against the wall to try and block out their surprised and often confused expressions.

Tains glanced around the field, watching as people teamed up. She wasn’t even quite sure what they were even supposed to be doing. All she knew was that she’d like to keep her eyebrows intact. She couldn’t recognize anyone but knew she needed to team up quickly. There was no walls to press against now. She chose a student, unsure of whether they were a first year or not, and walked up to them.

“Um, hello there, my name is Tains,” she said, holding out her hand.
