Of course, Nick had played the Legend of Zelda games as a kid. He wasn’t like Francine, who had actually brought her DS with her to school in order to be able to play one of them, but he had played. Well, when he could pry their shared gaming systems out of her hands. Overall, it had worked out though because Nick was much more into movies than he was games. Once he’d discovered B horror films, it had been pretty much over in terms of his interest in games. He was still really into comic books and wouldn’t mind going with Francine to a gaming con or something (if they ever made it to a con) but mostly he let Francine do her thing. It just surprised him that his twin hadn’t managed to get Lucien to play the game before getting him to dress up as a character. Or maybe that was deliberate; Nick wasn’t sure his roommate would have been willing to dress up as Ganon with all the context available to him.

“It’s just a matter of time, man,” Nick said with a grin. He would put down money on the guess that Francine would be teaching Lucien how to use a DS within the week.

The Link costume wasn’t terrible, but Nick was getting pretty tired of holding a foam sword. What if he wanted to eat or something? And there was no real use for it. Unless it involved mock-dueling with Lucien, which Nick suspected his roommate would not be up for. Lucien and ‘fun’ wasn’t necessarily a combination that worked well. Nick shifted the sword between hands.

“But yeah,” Nick returned to an earlier topic. “I’m not really a costume person. I mean I’d dress up for a con or something, but cons are different.” Plus at a con he would have the chance to meet an actor or writer responsible for the character he was depicting. He was still so jealous that Frankie had managed to get an autograph from Ryan Reynolds over break. “Makeup drives me nuts, I don’t need anything that close to my eyes thanks, I need those for Quidditch. I mean I put up with it for theater stuff but that doesn’t mean I like it.” Nick had the sneaking suspicion that they were dealing with another one of Lucien’s vaguely homophobic presumptions. They had gotten fewer and farther between since Nick had come out at thirteen, but Lucien still had his moments.

“You think so? Can’t wait to be enlightened,” Lucien responded, his sarcasm deadpan like usual. It was therefore likely only semi-recognizeable as being sarcastic, which was again something quite... more
