Elijah Carthy
I am full of disappointing answers

“Do you ever just really need to make out with someone?”

EJ hadn’t intended to run into anyone when he decided to go to the pitch to fly a couple laps. Despite their practice being earlier that day, the Cetus captain had an anxious itch that sometimes only flying at a dangerous height could ease. It had become a habit lately, one that he wasn’t going to stop anytime soon. It seemed to ease whatever tensions that Midterm had brought him, even if it was only temporary.

While his Midterm had actually been fairly pleasant, as time with his family always seemed to be, Elijah was becoming increasingly frustrated with the progress on his latest project. Finding anything on his biological parents was coming to a dead end at every turn. If he had more time on his hands, he could devote his attention to it. But during the school year, that just wasn’t possible. During the summer, it almost proved more difficult because he had to keep it from his adoptive mother. If he didn’t he was pretty sure that Agatha’s health would wilt faster than it already was.

These days, it kept him up at night.

Instead of letting it get to him at an hour where he couldn’t do anything about it but lay in bed, Elijah had started taking the last hour or so before curfew to fly around the pitch a few times and run some drills. Most of the time, it was empty. Apparently, that wasn’t the case tonight, because the Ceti had caught sight of someone in the stands before he started to fly.

He paused, broom in hand. Would it be rude if he just started doing laps? Probably.

With a reluctant posture, Elijah started for the stands instead of the grassy surface that he normally kicked off of. The closer he got the easier it was to see the person. Marissa Kendrick was bent over a broom and seemed to be very intent on making it pristine. The male hesitated in his advance. He suddenly thought that it would be better for him to leave the other captain alone and just deal with being up all night. Before he could turn to leave, the Aquila captain caught sight of him.

“Uh, what?” Elijah stuttered, his footsteps pausing as he neared the female. The question was possibly the strangest he’d ever heard, but it almost didn’t surprise him, considering who he was talking to. “Um, no?” Even in the dimmer lighting, Marissa could probably tell that the male had flushed bright red.

“I mean,” he said, trying to backtrack a little and not sound like a total idiot. But Merlin how was one even supposed to answer that question? “It’s not usually something I feel the need to do?”

It was a little later in the evening on a weeknight, and Marissa had just dismissed the Aquila Quidditch team from practice. It had been a pretty basic night: some conditioning, some cardio, some... more

Marissa didn’t mind the silence that seemed to take over the conversation. There was a lot of thought involved in this conversation. Elijah was allowed to have that time. Marissa wanted a genuine... more

Ah, so this was more hypothetical than not. She had a party coming up, and if Elijah had told her there was an actual person, she would’ve manipulated the pairings so he’d get a chance. Marissa threw ... more
