But how do you feel about it?

Elijah could tell that Marissa wasn’t exactly thrilled with his response but there was really nothing he could do to help that. He wasn’t good at expressing these kinds of things whatsoever. Sure, he’d had a muggle girlfriend or two, but those clearly hadn’t lasted for him and they hadn’t made it anywhere near second base. Although the latter may have been more due to Elijah’s upbringing than anything else. So when it came to topics like these, Elijah Carthy was beyond uncomfortable. He was downright awkward. Really, the fact that Marissa had gotten any kind of response was a bit of a miracle.

“What about you?”

Well, there was a question that could possibly make him look pretty weird. Elijah gave a noncommittal shrug. “Not really my department, as I’m sure you’ve noticed.” In reality, the last girlfriend that Elijah had actual considered to be a significant other had broken up with him right before they’d come back to school from the summer break. His relationships weren’t something he really advertised and so it wasn’t uncommon that this one wasn’t something people really knew about. It had been pretty easy to write it off to Camilla as just stress, considering she hadn’t known about Tiffany in the first place. “I think most people just assume that Camilla and I are together.”

While it didn’t bother him that little rumors like that circulated, Elijah tended to do his best to clear those things up. Camilla was his best friend and even if he had those ideas about her, it wouldn’t matter. He wouldn’t break their friendship, no matter how strongly he felt. If he felt that way at all. Not to say that he felt that way of course, it was just a hypothetical thing. Definitely not actual feelings, just an imaginary thought that crossed the Ceti's mind every now and then. It was just that the idea of rumors irritated him a little. “Something like that is more than frustrating,” he said, waving a hand idly in front of him as if the motion could portray what he felt. “It takes all those options you might have and dashes them. So even if you feel like making out with someone, chances are they think you’re with someone else and then refuse to have anything to do with you.”

The male paused to run a hand through the blonde mop on top of his head. “And because you talk about them a bit too much because they happen to be your best friend it doesn't matter how hard you might try to tell people you’re not with that person, they just don’t believe you.” With a sigh, Elijah looked over at Marissa. “Sorry, you didn't ask to hear me rant. I guess, for me, it’s not so much that I don’t think about making out with people. They just have the thought in their heads that I wouldn’t or that I can’t.”

Elijah leaned back a little, adding another shrug to the end of his rant. “It’s a normal thing but people like to make relationships and everything so much harder than it needs to be.”
