Yes, I am Sara,” she replied with her smile still intact. She didn't find it offensive that Petra didn't know her name, especially because she would probably be in her shoes if her new friend’s name was more common. Petra was a name that stood out and it had gotten stuck in her head since they had been first-years. Plus, Sara rarely socialized with anyone, so it wasn't a surprise to find that her yearmate did not know her name. It was okay, really. “Its okay,” she reassured Petra. “Hopefully it won't slip away after today!” she finished trying to joke about the awkward exchange, and Sara was hoping Petra wouldn't forget it because they would be good friends from now on.

The Lyra watched as Petra scooted closer to the water, and she, unconsciously, mimicked her movements. Sara felt as the water slowly moved upward her legs. It was soothing. The Lyra was happy at this moment, and she was going to enjoy every second of it. She knew she had school responsibilities and she took them seriously, maybe too seriously, but she had to make an extra effort.

A giggle escaped her lips as her legs began moving in circles cutting into the stillness of the water, though Petra had began her motions as well. Water was amazing!

The 12-year old looked curiously back at Petra and considered what she had added to the conversation. Her statement seemed a bit logical? But Sara wanted to poke her further for information, “Wow,” she mumbled loudly enough. “Did your sister tell you why?” she said scooting a bit closer to the other girl. Sara was curious to know the dynamics of how could someone live longer without food than water. She couldn't conceive being hungry or thirsty for that long. The Lyra could barely be without food or water for more than 3 hours. She was always hungry!
