I'm still glad!

Petra grinned as she kicked her legs out into the water, idly watching the rest of the people enjoying the party. She didn’t expect Sara to join her in the water, some people didn’t klike it but they were pretty silly in Petra’s opinion. The blonde girl was, as her mother often said, a fish out of water. Perhaps if she hadn’t been born with magical capabilities she would have been on a swim team in muggle school. Or at least those were the kinds of things that she heard about from Tavin, one of her non-magical brothers. Sometimes she wished that she’d been able to go to school with “normal” people. But really, she could be happy where she was too.

“A lot,” Petra chirped in response, resting her chin ontop of her arms. Petra was the seventh child in the family and her parents certainly hadn’t stopped. “I have six older siblings,” she said, deciding not to list all of their names. “Only Helena and Hugo are magical. We got it from mama and the papa is a muggle.” The blonde girl frowned slightly at that. “I guess magic doesn’t run too strong in our veins. Or something like that.”

Belatedly remembering that Sara’s original question had been about how many siblings she had, Petra counted quickly in her head. “I’ve got three younger siblings. One of the is non-magic and we don’t know about the others yet. Mama thinks they’ll be magic but papa says that she always says that.” It was true, the non-magical parts of the family outnumbered the magical presenting parts of the family and the twins hadn’t even had time to grow that big yet. “So in total I have 9 siblings.”

Saying it out loud made Petra realize just how many siblings she actually had. It was great for having friends growing up, they’d really never had that many problems considering the number of them. Petra doubted that there would be anymore siblings, but one really never knew. “I guess there’s a lot of us,” the Aquila said thoughtfully. “But it was fun growing up.” Tipping her head so that she could look at Sara, she smiled. “What about your family? Do you have any siblings?”

Sara could sort of understand the logic of the body storing food vs. not storing water, though she still had a lot of questions, but Petra didn't have the answers she sought. It was okay, really.... more
