Silas Graley
The new kid
Tue Aug 22, 2017 16:28

Silas Graley entered the Rec Center and looked around. He had instantly fallen in love with it on his tour with the Headmaster and he couldn’t wait to get in the water. The newly minted Aquila had waited just long enough to make sure the Headmaster had left the common room before changing his outfit into swim trunks. It was early Saturday so none of his roommates had been in the room when the Headmaster had dropped him off.

Silas ran to the water and jumped into the deep end of the water. He loved swimming and he especially loved feeling weightless. His feet hit the bottom of the pool and he pushed his feet hard off the bottom propelling himself upwards. He breached the surface and laughed. The water was warm but not bath water warm. Silas smoothed his dark brown hair back as he swam over to the edge and hoisted himself up.

His grey eyes scanned the room and he decided to check out the water slides. He chose the biggest of them and scrambled up to the top before sending himself head first down the slide. The boy laughed as he flew down the slide and once again was launched into the pool. When he hit the bottom of the pool this time he didn’t automatically propel himself up. First, he looked up and took in the lights. The second year always loved how lights looked from under the water. After a moment he propelled himself to the top of the pool.

This time he was surprised to see someone in the pool with him. He blinked the water out of his eyes, as he once again smoothed his dark brown hair out. “Hey,” he said with a grin. “I’m Silas Graley, new Aquila second year.” He didn’t see the point of beating around the bush. He wanted friends here with Mom and Dad he had his brothers here he had no one and he wanted to know someone here.

    • Is our year getting invaded too? - Dade Farnon, Tue Aug 22 20:29
It was early Saturday, and Dade had snuck out of the Cetus commons without his brother’s notice. He wasn’t feeling particularly like doing anything, including studying, which meant he didn’t want to... more
      • Of course! - Silas, Wed Aug 23 06:51
Silas grinned as the boy said his name slowly and with an English accent. Mom had said when she had gone here there were students from all over the world. So it didn’t surprise Silas but the kid did... more
        • You say that way too happily - Dade, Wed Aug 23 08:24
Ugh. Why was everyone (except Remington) at this school stupid? Of course Dade didn’t mean his question to be about Silas’s presence in the pool. It made sense for someone to be in a pool, usually.... more
          • I'm just happy! - Silas, Wed Aug 23 09:07
Silas blinked at how Dade said no. He may have been raised in the forests and jungles of this world, but he knew when people had that tone no good came from it. Silas watched as Dade looked down for... more
            • Well I hope it's not contagious - Dade, Wed Aug 23 09:22
“They forgot ?” Dade asked incredulously. What kind of parents forgot to send their kids to school? To magical school, nonetheless. Kids who didn’t go to magical school had all sorts of issues... more
              • It is. *Rubs all over you* - Silas, Wed Aug 23 11:07
Silas smiled when Dade repeated that his parents had forgotten. He laughed when Dade told him to stop lying and how it wasn’t even a good lie. “Hand to Merlin. We were hunting a Yeti in Tibet, and... more
                • Um. Yuck? - Dade, Sat Aug 26 07:13
‘Wildlife of the World’ didn’t sound like anything that Dade recognized, but the second year realized that this kid expected him to. Admittedly, it wasn’t as if Dade was connected very strongly to... more
                  • Admit it, you love it. - Silas, Sun Aug 27 21:33
Silas watched as the kid bent over oddly and retrieved his goggles. The way Dade had said that he could do it seemed like he was afraid that Silas would steal them or something. Why would the grey... more
                    • Definitely not - Dade, Sat Sep 9 06:50
“That’s stupid,” Silas was asking him about how long he’d been at RMI, but Dade was fixated on the idea of a black Yeti. “The whole point of Yetis is that they’re white and blend into the snow.... more
