JD Daegan
Roll out the red carpet
Mon Jul 29, 2019 14:22

It was nice to know that Rocky Mountain International was so thankful for JD. He blessed their lives with his presence. He knew that the Drama Club director appreciated his contributions to their school society, because he’d set up a movie night that featured the Popstar Pensieve himself.

How the director knew about Someone Quiet Understands Inner Beauty was beyond him. Clearly, the man did his research. The Cetus (ugh, still such a disappointing sorting; that house did not deserve him) agreed to be in the new movie for two reasons, despite not being offered a leading role.

One, he knew it mattered to get into the NeoHollywood movement Muds were kicking off. Just because they were born questionably didn’t mean they couldn’t create great things. Besides, once the movement took off, the proper magical community could take it over. Artistic gentrification existed to make these things better.

Two, a family friend asked for a favor, and JD was just a super good friend. The best of them, really.

He ditched the robes for a casual red carpet look. Black slacks and a leather belt started the outfit, which he improved upon with a black and thin white vertically striped dress shirt. A skinny black tie fit around his collar, and he pulled on a deep wine red leather jacket on. He tastefully, but messily, slicked back his blonde hair, making sure his striking blue eyes were in full view. This was RMI’s movie premiere of SQUIB; he needed to look the part. The people needed an example.

His black dress shoes clicked against the floor as he made his way through the halls and found the theater. He stopped in the entrance, face blanching just slightly.

What the pineapple was this?

The niche, novel way the room was set up threw him for multiple loops. Leave it to this idiotic school to ruin such a good idea with something so… eccentric. Tentatively, he found one of the least offensive places to sit. It didn’t have a lid on top like one or two of the others - that seemed claustrophobic and dangerous - and was a nice electric blue color. He’d just started to settle in when someone joined him.

Charm on, JD, can’t let the red carpet skills get stale.

“Hey there,” he greeted with a lopsided grin, “Seat’s free if you want it. Great view of a masterpiece.” The other student had a pretty great view of the movie, too.
