Traditionally you get Three

Dardanius grinned, enjoying Camilla's flattery. He had never considered himself to be unattractive, and the awkwardness of adolescence was receding from his features with satisfying results, which, combined with the sixth year’s commitment to physical activity, and continually increasing height, gave him a reflection that would make even a less self-assured person strut. “You’re easy on the eyes yourself,” he replied with a wink. He remembered his first reaction to her at the Blind Date party last year had been ‘Wow’ so she probably wasn’t ignorant of his thoughts on that.

“Though, you would have had a great time with me,” Camilla continued her tease.

“I did have a great time with you,” Danny recalled. Until he panicked, got confused, loathed himself a little, and generally freaked out. Otherwise known as a summary of his relationship history.

Focussing on Camilla’s current interest, Danny was intrigued to see her blush a little as she talked about Mason Helms, a person wholly unfamiliar to Danny. He knew that Camilla still liked their mutual friend Elijah, but perhaps she had given up on that daydream. The Lyra was rooting for them, but if EJ didn’t see Camilla that way then there was no point her waiting around for him, he guessed. She seemed happy, which was a definite improvement on the past few months. “He sounds great,” Danny smiled, pleased that Camilla was finally enjoying her family connections, rather than being restricted by them. “Bet it’s tough to be back at school.” With EJ around and Mason not around, it didn’t strike him as an ideal scenario.

When it seemed an appropriate moment, Danny thought he might as well mention his plans to Camilla, as they were on the topic, anyway. “I’m actually going on a date later,” he said, and it still felt a bit strange to be saying out loud. He studied his boots for a moment because it seemed easier than trying to have a normal conversation about relationships like a functional, mature human being. “With Rachel,” he clarified. He didn’t think Camilla and Rachel were particular friends, but he couldn’t remember any animosity between them, either. “I didn’t exactly want Heather to publicise it before it even happens, but I was looking for Claudia, just in case.” He’d also mention it to Marissa - because not telling her was just as awkward and weird as telling her. There wasn’t much he could do at this point to make things weirder between them - but probably nobody else. He figured it might be nice to go back to keeping his private life to himself.
