I'm good at games!

Raja had a point, and maybe she’d try silly voices next time. She only briefly considered it, though, because she didn’t care enough at this point to think any further. It was hard for her to want to do better at school when it seemed to come so naturally to the majority of her friends. If she was meant to get it, maybe it’d come that naturally too, or she’d at least enjoy working hard on it. Maybe she’d go into something artsy after RMI, like dance or tattoos. She wasn’t built for a crazy academic career.

“What are you working on, anyway? Wait, if it’s boring, for the love of God, don’t tell me. I can barely tolerate my own boring homework.”

“Oh, it’s boring,” she said. Marissa put the book on top of the rest of her forgotten papers on the table. “Honestly, I don’t know if I have a class that’s interesting. But you have to take them. It’s hardly something you can really avoid.”

There were more interesting things to talk about, anyway. This was one of her Quidditch players, after all, and she had ideas to toss about. Usually it was Rose who Marissa bounced ideas off of. Her roommate was always good at taking Marissa’s ideas and building them to be even better. She’d recently started asking Aaron about Quidditch, too, since he was almost a professional once upon a time. Rob had been asked a question here and there this year, since he was one of two past Aquila captains the redhead knew.

“Anyway, so, Quidditch,” Marissa grinned, and her green eyes lit up, “I’ve been thinking about having practice in the Rec Center. Playing a pick-up game in the pool instead of in the air. I imagine it’d be like water polo, but more interesting. Or maybe it’ll turn into a fun, pool party, team bonding kind of thing. What do you think?”

Huh. “That seems dumb,” Raja conceded matter-of-factly. “Drama Club is cool, and Director Tennant is really nice.” The first year had minimal theatre experience, but he was doing the booth stuff for... more
