Rose really wasn’t upset or mad or anything. Awesome. Marissa was used to being well liked by most people. She didn’t mind when people were mad at her if they were people she didn’t care about. What Justin or Lucien thought about her was of no concern. But if she was ever responsible for upsetting one of her friends, she wasn’t sure what she’d do. It’s why the Emmett thing had been so weird for so long. He seemed better lately, though, so she wasn’t as worried about upsetting him more.

Her best friend was definitely right about it being weird. She knew that Rocky Mountain International had always been a small school, but it must have been really small back when their parents were here. Lia Harper was just one person, and she knew so many different people. Hell, Rose’s mom was just one person, but she was known by so many people. Marissa was super curious about what other overlaps between their generation and her parents’ generation existed, but that was too weird to think about. What if someone from her family had been involved with another person in the school?

What if her dad had done things with Danny’s mom, too?? Ew!

“Do you want to get lunch or something?”

The muffled question was a huge relief to the fifth year. She didn’t want to go down that rabbit trail. She had enough confusing feelings about Danny Dubois, thanks. She didn’t need to think about parents, too. Marissa stretched her arms up in the air, feeling the anxious tension leaving her body.

“Yeah, I could eat,” she replied, “Let’s go to the Diner.”
