Rose Farnon
Let me get some action in, then

Since Rose had classes in the morning, her shift at Kimball’s Quidditch Supply had been short today - only a few hours. Which was just as well, since she had homework that she had (uncharacteristically) not managed to complete yet that was due tomorrow. With adding Ruben’s martial arts practices to her regular schedules, Rose had realized exactly how much she was doing. Quidditch, her side conditioning, work, classes, Animagus study, dueling club - and now martial arts? It was a lot, and she was beginning to feel it. Her classes weren’t slipping, of course, but she found herself staying up later than usual doing homework than she had before, which made her more tired and more likely to sleep in on weekends, which in turn made her stay up later to complete her homework. It was a cycle and Rose wasn’t sure what to do about it, because she absolutely was not willing to drop any of her activities.

If only I had a Time-Turner, Rose thought wishfully as she stepped into the hole that was the entrance to the Aquila Commons. She fell gracefully and landed on her feet and straightened her Kimball’s red-and-white polo after her land. The polo and a pair of khakis were the required work uniform, which Rose didn’t mind overly much despite her usual inclination toward clothing that was a little more, well, flattering. She and Marissa often went thrifting on Pearl Street in order to augment their wardrobes, which was great because otherwise there was no possible way Rose could afford to wear the clothes she did. Well. She could ask her father for money, but that was something Rose did her best to never do, ever.

Speaking of Marissa, there she was in a corner of the Commons. Rose walked cheerfully over to her friend, ready to tell her about the completely adorable child who had come in with his mother looking for his first Junior Quidditch League robes that day. There hadn’t been a Junior Quidditch League where she was growing up, but she thought it was a great concept. Getting kids out on the Pitch as early as possible meant that they would be better players when they came to RMI. And who knew - it was possible that the kid who had come in today would come to RMI in the next couple of years and be Sorted into Aquila, ending up on the House team. It was definitely a possibility that Rose looked forward to. They were definitely going to have at least one new player on the team next year because Justin was (thankfully) graduating, but of the current younger students, Rose was unsure if any of them would join. With any luck, they would get a first year with Quidditch experience but Rose knew it was a long shot. Most magical kids didn’t live somewhere they could play. Boulder was a somewhat unique hub of the magical community.

Oh hey - Ruben was there too. Rose hadn’t registered his presence initially, but she absolutely didn’t mind his appearance. Although Marissa would be her best friend for all time, Ruben was quickly climbing in the ranks of people Rose enjoyed spending time with. Which was good, because she spent a fair amount of time with him.

“Hey guys,” she said, walking around the table to sit on Marissa’s far side, separated from Ruben by some table space and - ooh, cookies! “Can I have a cookie?” Rose asked Marissa, flicking her hazel gaze from Ruben to her best friend before - wait hang on. Was that - it looked like Marissa had been hit. Rose looked closely at the other Aquila. She looked like she had been crying. What the hell? Rose stood up quickly and angrily, fists balled at her side.

“What did you do?” she growled at Ruben. “Because if you’re the one who hurt her you’re pineappling dead.” Despite their initial duel, Rose was pretty sure she could take Ruben on and win, especially right now, her entire body humming with anger.

  • Actions speak louder than words - Ruben Lundqvist, Wed Apr 19 21:34
Ancient Runes wasn't a subject that Ruben had always appreciated. This wasn't too unusual - most kids in the Nordic countries, muggle and magical alike, were practically raised on the old mythology,... more

      • No, no action. Just talking. - Marissa, Thu Apr 20 09:57
“Ruben,” she genuinely smiled when she saw the other fifth year. “It’s always a good day for cookies.” Marissa didn’t know much about the other student. Mostly, she knew some things that Holland had... more
        • Booooring - Ruben, Thu Apr 20 12:28
If Marissa genuinely thought that she could get away with continuing to talk about cookies now - well, he’d have to educate her on that. Ruben had a good eye for spotting signs of violence, in large... more
          • Let me liven things up - Rose, Fri Apr 21 05:07
”Don’t do the Scary Rose thing.” Rose made a face, but didn’t object. She had pointedly ignored Ruben’s comment about the cookie (to be fair, she hadn’t noticed him having a cookie, but to be equally ... more
            • I don't have a say in this, do I? - Marissa, Sat Apr 22 16:35
Rose sat down, and Marissa felt a little better. She’d heard stories about Ruben and how capable he was in Dueling Club; in fact, she’d heard most of it from Rose. Imagining the two of them getting... more
              • Nope. We're taking over. - Ruben, Sat Apr 22 17:28
Ruben made a noncommittal grunt in the back of his throat, acknowledging her response. He wasn’t completely surprised that Marissa hadn’t hit back, but the surprised way that she had answered him... more

It was entirely unsurprising that Marissa hadn’t hit Camilla back; it had been clear that Ruben didn’t know her very well when he’d asked. Of the two girls, Rose was infinitely more likely to punch... more
                  • Wait! I can explain. - Marissa, Sun Apr 23 10:56
Somehow, Marissa’s idea of Not A Big Deal did not seem to match what her friends thought, because now there were exploding cookies everywhere. The snickerdoodle in her hands turned into a cloud of... more
                    • Not the most helpful explanation - Ruben, Sun Apr 23 17:21
Still fuming at the opposite half of the room as if the now cookie-particle-clogged air had become some kind of enemy, Ruben listened with only partial attention to Rose's rant. Not that the other... more
