That's not cheer
Tue Apr 17, 2018 16:21

Before dinner Myffi had spoken to Toby about the event she wanted to hold at school later in the term. He was enthusiastically supportive of her ideas, as usual, which is why she had been able to forgive him for implying that she had made that whole planet-friendly meal in the Diner that one time. She could see how it looked suspicious. She didn’t really get why he had accused Holland and Maverick of messing with the staircases, though. Like, how would that benefit them? She wasn’t sure about Maverick, but Myfanwy knew that Holland could go up both the Lyra staircases. Why on earth would they want to stop people from getting to their own dormitories? Also Holland had been super helpful getting everyone’s things from their rooms, it was just total nonsense to assume they had switched the staircases in the first place. Also if even the staff couldn’t fix it, it really seemed unlikely that even a seventh year who was really good at charms could have caused the problem in the first place.

Anyway, after getting to go-ahead from Toby, Myffi was totally ready to start planning her next campaign. She has some walnut and mushroom salad with bean shoots for dinner, amalgamating some of the readily available ingredients with some that Myffi had acquired from the organic food shop where she worked, and then took her bag, with her sketchbook already inside it, to the commonroom to begin her preparations. Only when she got to the commons, it looked like someone’s suitcase had spontaneously erupted all over the place. Clothes, and books, and allsorts of other belongings were on every table and chair. “What kind of kerfuffle’s gone on ’n’ere?” she wondered aloud as she stepped over a purple tee shirt on the floor.

Amongst the carnage she noticed the conspicuously neatly folded bedding and glass cage that in most circumstances would have been more puzzling, but Darby had been a frequent visitor to the allotment since Kit had taken an interest in Agriclub. A secondary glance around the room confirmed that all these belongings could easily belong to Kit. Why, though? Had she lost something and brought everything she owned down into the commons to find it? That seemed illogical even for Kit. Myffi looked up as another student joined her. “I don’t get it,” she said, bluntly. “Why’s all this stuff here?”

  • Just spreading some cheer - The Lyra Commonroom, Tue Apr 10 19:51
It was a few days after the big return to RMI and the evening meal had been about as eventful as one would expect for this time of year. Some students had cracked open a book to study over their... more
    • Celebrate good times, COME ON - Darlene Knight, Thu May 3 16:10
Darlene was feeling a slight flutter in her stomach this evening - not to be confused with the flutter in her heart that she felt around Drew - and decided to head back from dinner a bit early. She... more

      • It's made me merry - Leopold Harris, Mon May 7 15:19
Leo was in a good mood. It shocked even him but if there was something that could perk the spirits of a teenage boy it was a big feed and the knowledge that a cozy bed awaited him. Going home for the ... more
        • Your morals are off kilter - Myfanwy, Tue May 8 15:25
Leo was still kind of grumpy, but Myffi thought he was maybe a lot less grumpy these days than he had been right at the start of term, or maybe she was just getting used to his mood so she didn’t... more
          • Had you asked Leo a few months ago he never would have foreseen a day when he would tolerate Myffi’s company, nevermind a time when he’d actually enjoy it, but here he was finding himself glad to... more
            • No order without chaos? - Myffi, Fri May 11 09:24
If Kit had moved out, like Leo suggested, wouldn’t she have maybe put her stuff into a more ordered and organised… no wait, this was Kit. This was about right. Myffi liked the second year a lot, but... more
              • Now you're getting it! - Leo, Fri May 11 11:09
Leo quirked an eyebrow at Myffi. Not weird? Ha. Kit was the definition of weird. Leo may not have been the authority on Kit, his interactions with her mostly taking place on the Quidditch Pitch, but... more
                • I don't support your theory - Myffi, Sun May 13 15:07
Leo tried to backtrack on calling Kit (or her friends) weird, which was nice of him. She was a little unusual, but how dull would the world be if everyone was the same? Leo even went on to say that... more
                  • OK. But you're wrong. - Leo, Sun May 13 17:17
Leo decided he liked it when Myffi laughed. She didn’t have one of those obnoxious laughs- the sort that seemed too boastful- desperate to convey to everyone just how insanely happy they were- to be... more
                    • That’s your opinion - Myffi, Tue May 15 10:28
Was it tough coming in when everyone already had friendship groups? Myffi wasn’t sure. She’d managed to make some friends just fine, although they did all seem to have other people they liked to... more
                      • The right opinion. - Leo, Wed May 16 12:25
Leo didn’t know a lot about Wales except that they liked rugby there and had a lot of sheep so he couldn’t say if California was any better but he suspected not. Nothing Myffi had ever said suggested ... more
                        • Myffi nodded in empathy at Leo’s mother wanting him to be homeschooled, too. Myfanwy had the best of both worlds, she supposed, by going to a Muggle school and learning magic secretly at home. It did ... more
