Leo was in a good mood. It shocked even him but if there was something that could perk the spirits of a teenage boy it was a big feed and the knowledge that a cozy bed awaited him. Going home for the holidays had been a real downer. RMI living arrangements had spoiled Leo. At home he had to share his bedroom with four squealing brats. He used to be able to handle it by chucking a few pillows around and then taking some deep breaths. But once you knew the joy of privacy there was no going back. To say his irritation at the unfairness of the situation had led to some arguments would be an understatement. Naturally, Jeb and him had been at each other’s throats the entire vacation. Leo thought even his mom had been glad when the time finally came to pack the old trunk and ship him off to Colorado. Which was fine with Leo. He was glad to see the back of the whole lot of them. Really. Ever since he’d been back at school he’d felt lighter. He’d caught himself singing the common room password more than once, and although he’d effectively killed that bad habit after a student tried to harmonize with him, Leo was feeling more upbeat about term this time around.

Still filled with the contentment only a good dinner could deliver, he charged into the common as though in a great hurry despite the fact that the only appointment he had to keep was with his bed. Catching sight of Myffi looking a bit out of sorts he swiftly spun around to face her, feet catching some foreign object, he tripped over his long legs and connected with the ground omitting a dull THUD. It was only as he was lying there that he finally registered Myffi’s words of greeting and squinted at the mess around him.

He rolled over onto his side, feeling inside his jeans pocket for his glasses. Yup, just as he thought. The wing was bent but nothing he couldn’t fix with a simple spell later. He shoved them on his nose, and peered through the lopsided frames finally seeing the common room’s new decor.

“Woah,” he exclaimed clambering to his feet. The common room was in a state all right. He turned to Myffi, and with the hint of a smile supplied, “My guess is someone got really sick of their roommate. Merlin knows, I thought about tossing Roger’s violin down the staircase most nights.”

Leo immediately started snooping through a pile of belongings. It mostly looked like a load of junk but he was still hopeful he might find a galleon or a sickle or something of value. Finders keepers definitely applied in the common room. He tossed a brightly coloured sock over his shoulder, moving deeper into the centre of the room.

  • That's not cheer - Myfanwy Owen, Tue Apr 17 16:21
Before dinner Myffi had spoken to Toby about the event she wanted to hold at school later in the term. He was enthusiastically supportive of her ideas, as usual, which is why she had been able to... more

      • Your morals are off kilter - Myfanwy, Tue May 8 15:25
Leo was still kind of grumpy, but Myffi thought he was maybe a lot less grumpy these days than he had been right at the start of term, or maybe she was just getting used to his mood so she didn’t... more
        • Had you asked Leo a few months ago he never would have foreseen a day when he would tolerate Myffi’s company, nevermind a time when he’d actually enjoy it, but here he was finding himself glad to... more
          • No order without chaos? - Myffi, Fri May 11 09:24
If Kit had moved out, like Leo suggested, wouldn’t she have maybe put her stuff into a more ordered and organised… no wait, this was Kit. This was about right. Myffi liked the second year a lot, but... more
            • Now you're getting it! - Leo, Fri May 11 11:09
Leo quirked an eyebrow at Myffi. Not weird? Ha. Kit was the definition of weird. Leo may not have been the authority on Kit, his interactions with her mostly taking place on the Quidditch Pitch, but... more
              • I don't support your theory - Myffi, Sun May 13 15:07
Leo tried to backtrack on calling Kit (or her friends) weird, which was nice of him. She was a little unusual, but how dull would the world be if everyone was the same? Leo even went on to say that... more
                • OK. But you're wrong. - Leo, Sun May 13 17:17
Leo decided he liked it when Myffi laughed. She didn’t have one of those obnoxious laughs- the sort that seemed too boastful- desperate to convey to everyone just how insanely happy they were- to be... more
                  • That’s your opinion - Myffi, Tue May 15 10:28
Was it tough coming in when everyone already had friendship groups? Myffi wasn’t sure. She’d managed to make some friends just fine, although they did all seem to have other people they liked to... more
                    • The right opinion. - Leo, Wed May 16 12:25
Leo didn’t know a lot about Wales except that they liked rugby there and had a lot of sheep so he couldn’t say if California was any better but he suspected not. Nothing Myffi had ever said suggested ... more
                      • Myffi nodded in empathy at Leo’s mother wanting him to be homeschooled, too. Myfanwy had the best of both worlds, she supposed, by going to a Muggle school and learning magic secretly at home. It did ... more
