Had you asked Leo a few months ago he never would have foreseen a day when he would tolerate Myffi’s company, nevermind a time when he’d actually enjoy it, but here he was finding himself glad to have a moment to catch up. She’d been a great help to him last term and Leo knew he’d never properly thanked her. Not that he intended to do that now. Maybe if he ever made it to fifth year he’d send her a thank you note or something. Or not. Thank you notes seemed more like something grannies sent to each other after they received some good baking tips. Definitely not something you sent to a friend, because Leo supposed that’s what they were now, friends. It was weird to think that. Leo had never considered the possibility that he could be friends with a girl. He’d been friendly enough with Brandy when they were younger but sister’s didn’t count, and these days he didn’t even have much of a relationship with her. Girls were strange after all. You only had to look at the items littering the room to know that.

On closer inspection it became clear that Myffi was probably right. It did all look like the sort of stuff Kit would be hoarding which was disappointing because he was sure that if Darlene’s possessions had been spewed across the common room he’d probably be finding something more valuable than a bunch of art supplies. Leo didn’t know Darlene very well but it wasn’t a secret that the Knights were rolling in cash. With this in mind, Leo felt he had to agree with Myffi, this didn’t look like the work of Darlene. That kid had probably never levitated anything heavier than a pillowcase. There was no need when you had a small army of slaves house eleves desperate to do your bidding.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if Kit had decided she’d had enough of Princess Darlene and moved out,” Leo said with slight admiration, as he pushed aside a pile of T-shirts hoping they were clean, still finding nothing worth snagging, “I’m sure she has plenty of weird little friends who could have helped her out.”

Although this wasn’t the most satisfactory conclusion it was good enough for Leo. If he was honest, he didn’t give a damn how all the stuff had got down here so long as it was gone by the morning. What was amusing for half an hour would quickly become a real pain when someone wanted to put their feet up in the common room and escape their roommate. As sympathetic as he was to Kit’s predicament this was no long term solution and it was only fair that Kit got an earful for the disruption it had caused. Leo certainly would have. But with all the nepotism floating around RMI Leo suspected nothing would come of it so he felt no shame in pocketing a bag of candy.

“You’re making it worse.”

Leo turned to face Myffi, with a wry smile and waved his hand at all the mess around them, “Sure I am. I’m helping Kit declutter!”

  • Your morals are off kilter - Myfanwy, Tue May 8 15:25
Leo was still kind of grumpy, but Myffi thought he was maybe a lot less grumpy these days than he had been right at the start of term, or maybe she was just getting used to his mood so she didn’t... more

      • No order without chaos? - Myffi, Fri May 11 09:24
If Kit had moved out, like Leo suggested, wouldn’t she have maybe put her stuff into a more ordered and organised… no wait, this was Kit. This was about right. Myffi liked the second year a lot, but... more
        • Now you're getting it! - Leo, Fri May 11 11:09
Leo quirked an eyebrow at Myffi. Not weird? Ha. Kit was the definition of weird. Leo may not have been the authority on Kit, his interactions with her mostly taking place on the Quidditch Pitch, but... more
          • I don't support your theory - Myffi, Sun May 13 15:07
Leo tried to backtrack on calling Kit (or her friends) weird, which was nice of him. She was a little unusual, but how dull would the world be if everyone was the same? Leo even went on to say that... more
            • OK. But you're wrong. - Leo, Sun May 13 17:17
Leo decided he liked it when Myffi laughed. She didn’t have one of those obnoxious laughs- the sort that seemed too boastful- desperate to convey to everyone just how insanely happy they were- to be... more
              • That’s your opinion - Myffi, Tue May 15 10:28
Was it tough coming in when everyone already had friendship groups? Myffi wasn’t sure. She’d managed to make some friends just fine, although they did all seem to have other people they liked to... more
                • The right opinion. - Leo, Wed May 16 12:25
Leo didn’t know a lot about Wales except that they liked rugby there and had a lot of sheep so he couldn’t say if California was any better but he suspected not. Nothing Myffi had ever said suggested ... more
                  • Myffi nodded in empathy at Leo’s mother wanting him to be homeschooled, too. Myfanwy had the best of both worlds, she supposed, by going to a Muggle school and learning magic secretly at home. It did ... more
