This "party" needs an adult! [Tag: Mr. Tennant]

Oh my god. This was it: definitive evidence that Kit Kendrick was an actual, honest-to-god idiot. She scooped up her horrible creature, and Darlene’s worst fears were realized. Immediately, the brunette was in tears. As Kit brought it closer, she bordered on hyperventilation.

“NO!” she shrieked, hitting Kit’s hands to cast them away from her. There was no way Darlene wanted to be friends with it, and she was in fact insulted by the shared letters between her name and Kit’s name for the beast. “Kit, you let it in my bed!” Darlene wailed. “Now I have to burn all my nice things!” The twelve year old had been fond of those blankets, with their lavish softness and pleasant designs, but now all she would feel when she curled beneath them would be icky little spider - excuse her, “Mexican red-kneed tarantula” - feet creeping all over her. Everything was ruined!

With no further regard for Kit, who may or may not have been scampering to pick up the spider if it had fallen from her hand (Darlene hadn’t cared to notice how forcefully she smacked), she ran out of the room, through the girls hallway, and down the stairs. Her tiny, shaky fist pounded rapidly on Mr. Tennant’s office door. Her face was streaked with tears, and she looked up at him in a state of total panic and disarray when he opened the door. “Kit put a spider in my bed!” she exclaimed, sobbing.
