Thank you for the information. I was unaware of the Wauseon incident but will investigate the details. For the Sterling wreck I will search the Akron, Cleveland, and Wooster daily newspapers.

Does anyone remember the fatal wreck on the Erie-Lackawanna that took place in the early 1970s near the Ravenna Arsenal in Ohio? Some teenage thugs threw a siding switch on a train at speed. The lead locomotive tipped on its right side, and the engineer was crushed to death. I saw the aftermath when the crane had righted the loco.

        The wreck near Ravenna was EL train 2nd NY100, was running against the current of traffic on train orders when they came upon open switch. Accident happened on Thanksgiving day 1974 or 1975.
