Hi John

Thanks for your help.

(I had a break from the McGregor line for a week - had to give my brain a break. I've decided to have another go..)

It's very confusing with differing dates etc...

Anyway - working on that Dougal was Donald Buchanan/Christian Robertson's son (b 1763), and Donald was probably Donald Buchanan/Mary Ferguson's son (b 1738)..

Looking at IGI, there's a 1)Donald Buchanan b 1679 (father: Donald Roy Buchanan)2) a Donald Buchanan b 1702 (Father just listed as Buchanan). Both born at Blaquhidder. (Assuming I haven't made a mistake)There are no obvious Buchanans back a generation (ie 1630 - 1680)ie born in Blaquhidder. Could he have then been listed under McGregor?

There's a Donald McGrigor b 1660 Balq. (Parents: Grigor McGregor/Anna McGregor) and a Donald alias MacAlpin McGregor b 1674 Glencarnoch, Balq. (Parents - John alias Mc Fatrik Macgregor/Ann McGregor).

Is this going in a wrong dirction? I can't find any info re the Macgregors who used the alias Buchanan.

(By the way, Dougal Mcgregor died in Dullater 1838 according to his gravestone even though he raise his family in Callander. Would this have been significant?)

Regards

Elizabeth
