Not having a visual of your original poster/art it's a bit hard to say, but I was going to suggest that the 35 stars on the American flag, since it is apparently not technically correct for the time in which the organisation existed, might simply by a graphic omission, ie artistic license. You know how uppity artists can get...As an artist/graphic designer, I can vouch for the uppitiness. :-P

If you can, post up a photo of your poster- that might help. This might also be a good piece to send for the newsletter?
