Sorry about my late response.
Well done with your research. Looks like you have cracked the mystery.But what happened to this family between 1867 and 1872 when they reportedly turned up in Dannevirke, New Zealand with a hundred or so Scandinavians off the SS Hovding.Did they actually migrate to North America in 1867 or was that just their intention until New Zealand immigration agents visiting Scandinavia persuaded locals who had North America in mind to opt for New Zealand instead for the same fare as to New York. And twenty acres of free land thrown in for good measure? Where do we go from here. Many thanks Elsa and Kind regards, Barry Erickson.
