there's a cake-and-eat-it issue here, isn't there? As I understand it, a subset of the fans of the football club continue to pay a membership fee to use the Vere Suite on matchdays. If the club really can't turn down matchday bookings, then perhaps it should cease to offer membership, but it can't have it both ways.
The alternative, surely, is to return to a situation where it puts its fans' interest first, acknowledging their position as its primary customers, offers them both the membership and the use of the facility.
