than the impending takeover. He did sign a one-year deal in both 2010 and 2011 but as he says in his BBC column he is now 28 and is looking to do the right thing for his career and future. He is at a crossroads in his life with his impending nuptials and his studies ending this summer. Would seem an obvious time to make a change if that is what he desires.

To widen the scope of the debate, the reaction to the departures of 3 staff yesterday was rather depressing. It sparked immediate doom-mongering. The official website article did state "New appointments will be announced in due course." I wonder how those eager to pore scorn on the Trust takeover, before it has even happened, would feel if they were not in a position to do so and there was no individual "saviour" on the horizon to prevent the club from certain administration.

With hindsight I believe matt will come to be viewed as a very respected servant to the club akin to the likes of Rhino or Brownie. His 9 years here have been a very choppy time for the club both on... more

'A takeover of the club from the hands of millionaire Steve Hayes to the Wycombe Wanderers Trust is certainly going to see a tightening of the purse strings.' As if Hayes has been a Frank Adams like... more

            • What changed this summer? Millionaire Steve Hayes is being replaced by the Trust, so we can no longer offer two year contracts. No mention of that fact that this situation is almost entirely the... more

I guess it does come down to circumstances and finances. If we can not afford to recruit better quality than Matty B then he isworth a 2 yr contract. If we can replace him with better then he isn't.

We've no idea what the club would be like if it had not been for Steve Hayes ownership. Just like we've got no idea what our club would be like if we'd made the play-offs in 94/95, never employed... more
