Some well reasoned points.

With hindsight I believe matt will come to be viewed as a very respected servant to the club akin to the likes of Rhino or Brownie. His 9 years here have been a very choppy time for the club both on and off the field. But even during the bad times it has always been a pleasure to have Matt in the squad and around the club. He also clearly respects the fans and shares in our joy/heartache.

The current situation makes negotiations hard I'm sure but I would happily see Matty's dedication to the club rewarded with a 2 year deal. And he's clearly a man who thinks about his future career and financial security so who can really begrudge him taking a 2 year deal elsewhere. If he were to do so he can rely on a warm welcome if returning in different colours.

I guess it does come down to circumstances and finances. If we can not afford to recruit better quality than Matty B then he isworth a 2 yr contract. If we can replace him with better then he isn't.
