In the future due to the rules change forced through by PL clubs the amount we can make through such deals will be capped at £70k (IIRC). Given the costs will continue the COE will never see such profits again. Accordingly the club and Trust are cutting their losses now. As the article points out Wycombe and other clubs at our level opposed the rules change but were out voted by Championship clubs who wanted to stay in with the big boys.
