Am not a big fan of either but johnson and Lescott have done well. The whole defence were good against France but Ashley Cole was suprisingly off his game against Sweden and John Terry was very shaky.

Terry's lack of pace was alarming against Ibrahimovich who i'm not convinced is one of the quickest players around and he really couldn't have been organising the defence very well for the two goals.

I thought Hodgson would send out a team who were hard to score against but it looks like we may find scoring easier than keeping clean sheets.

As always what we will really need is some luck!!

Use him as a super sub or drop Milner?

Should start. Although I can't imagine Walcott on the right and Young on the left as neither of them are particularly defensive-minded. As unpopular a choice he may be, I would switch Milner to the... more

as Ukraine will be pressing to win and therefore be exposed at the back, something his pace and skill will exploit to the max. That's not to say Milner shouldn't play a part in the tournament though, ... more

I don't understand the criticism of Johnson defensively. He is an excellent tackler and his tracking back is also very good. Yes he has to track back because he darts forward but this is trademark of ... more

I would have gone for Richards by a country mile!

I'm with you on that. Not only is he our best right-back, he is also useful in either area on set-pieces.

apart from the goal against sweden which was very unlucky he's been very sound defensively and compliments the attack well. I'd say he's better than Richards whose positional play is appalling and... more

personally I thought both goals were his fault. 1st he lost his man, 2nd he played everyone onside.

Richards was injured near the end of the season, thankfully for City his replacement Zaballeta played so well that he couldn't get his place back. Having said that Richards came on as a sub against... more

I don't think he's that bad either, but I think he is exposed at the bad sometimes, and that's something Milner can help with. He is however the best (apart from poss. Richards) in that position and... more
