My Only England
Thoughts on England game

I saw much worry on my Twitter feed over the performance and there were times when Ukraine looked dangerous, but overall I thought England put on a good, professional display.

It was an obvious game-plan to try and keep possession as much as possible, which we were not always great at and gave the ball away far too often.

Perhaps it is the pressure of playing in a major tournament, but it does surprise me how uncomfortable on the ball players who play in the Premier League week in, week out, suddenly seem.

One of the most important events of the night was to get Wayne Rooney back on the scoresheet in his first appearance back.

I am also impressed so far with Roy Hodgson's substitutions, which he appears to use wisely and much to our advantage. I think his subs won us the match against Sweden. Gary Waddock, I hope you were watching!
