I think we've finally (or perhaps just for this tournament because of the lack of expectation/Hodgson's late arrival) realised that beating teams such as Germany and Spain at their own game just simply isn't going to happen. Taking everything into account, I'd say that the current formation and tactics is playing to England's strengths and giving us the best possible chance of (relative) success given our squad.
