Calm down all, a few people here need to remember this isn't a takeover in the normal sense, Don't imagine for a minute that three or four wealthy people have chucked in a couple of million each out of their back pockets and are raring to take over so they can buy Beckham and Ronaldinho. That would be easily done and If anyone has a spare 15-20m and wants to turn us into stars and pay off Hayes in full please step forward.
With the new stadium thing never needed or going to happen, and all his other financial and legal issues Hayes has had enough and is handing back control of our loss making club to those who care and will try and run it as best they can.
This will involve spending less, there is no way around that. It will also inevitably involve settlements with some writing off of loans and debts that were raised by SH with no real prospect of them ever being repaid in full.
There is also complication around Wasps as the two clubs had some functions behind the scenes that were virtually merged. A new wasps owner may not want to stay at AP and that will involve some unravelling.
The ownership of Adams park is also key, whilst Hayes owns both clubs he also owns AP, Handing back the club but not the ground, or worse the club and not the ground but with all debts remaining would be of no use to anyone.
Next up is the limitation of what the trust can hope to achieve, and what support it has. It must seek a wide variety of members and investors.
Lastly there were a number of contractual clauses and reassurances made when Hayes had the club signed over to him regarding what would happen should the club fail.
In short, If you think this is easy and the trust want to own us but are faffing about you are dreaming.
I'm sure they have been explored and pored over but clearly nothing has been agreed. As a few people have said, until Hayes knows who is buying Wasps and whether they want to stay here everything... more
