I am not sure quite when your statement of intent could have happened. This transaction will I guess have started with a vague "fishing" conversation from one party of other which gradually turned into a nub of an idea for initial discussions at some point attractig an NDA and eventually it would appear turning into reality. In many ways it would probably have been better (although inevitable) that the story hadnt leaked out until deal done.
Re last night, if true, feels like a no-win situation. Tje club takes a decision and i think rightly communicates that descision firstly to those affected before communicating publicly. One of those affected understandably goes on the internet and reveals decision. i wouldnt want a rushed out statement on the internet from the Trust to put their side and who knows reality may be a little more nuanced than appearsfrom last night.
Even in the brave new world, I would not expect a communications statement to say much more than regrettably decision taken to close it. After careful consideration a decision was taken that continuation of the scheme was not financially viable and therefore with great regret decision taken to close the academy.
Of course your sympathies lie with the parents, I am sure everybody including the trust would love to continue the schme and will have hated closing it down, but sometimes unplkatable decisions have to be made for the greater good.
