Andrew Howard - BFP column last Friday
Wed May 10, 2017 09:59

This was Andrew Howard’s column as published in the Bucks Free Press on Friday 5th May 2017.

I don’t believe this has made the BFP website.

Perhaps significantly, no mention of the ‘Five Year Plan’, or any thoughts on next season?

AT the end of my third season as chairman of Wycombe Wanderers, I can only reflect positively on another fantastic season of off field progress and on-field adventures, which is testament to everyone who’s played their part.

Gareth and his staff did an excellent job last summer to build on a squad which had an already strong core, and kept their cool during an injury crisis in the first couple of months.

We then got to see the team’s true potential during the club’s best ever run of form, which took us into the fourth round of the FA Cup and the semi-final of the Checkatrade Trophy.

We also saw the launch and subsequent success of the 500 Club, contributing to the signings of Scott Kashket and Dominic Gape, which again showed the incredible commitment of our supporters.

They will give their all on Saturday, as they always do, and let’s see where it gets us. Whatever happens, we’re excited about what this group can achieve next season, whether it’s in League 1 or 2.
The same applies off the pitch, where we have cleared the debt to the club’s previous owner, appointed a new general manager, developed some fantastic commercial partnerships and find ourselves benefitting more and more from the excellent contributions of our expanding team of volunteers.

Thank you to all the staff and volunteers who continue to go above and beyond the call of duty for their club – it is truly appreciated. Those volunteers of course include both boards – club and Trust – who are doing a terrific job in steering the club in the right direction.

Their hard work often goes unnoticed, but they have been a hugely important support to me as chairman, so thank you gentlemen.

Finally, to you the supporters – you are always at the heart of everything we do, and we truly appreciate the backing you give up and down the country, both in terms of your time, money and energy.
