Team Changes

Three changes from the side that had lost at Coventry the previous Friday

In: Gape, Cowan-Hall, Eze
Out: Stewart (injured), Bloomfield, Mackail-Smith

Gareth Ainsworth

“The balance we got was spot on after the Coventry game. When we get the balance right we are good side. There was the right mix between possession and good balls forward at the right time and it was epitomised by Bayo’s goal. He has got that ability and he can only do that if the ball into him is good. We worked the angles and it was a great all-round performance. The back five were imperious and Dan Scarr has probably had his best game for us. Sido Jombati and Dominic Gape played well out of position and I thought it was an excellent result.”

“We have worked hard in the week in getting the ball down and we did some pattern work on Christmas Eve and I am pleased that the boys didn’t rush off. They were keen to get what went wrong on Friday night to put that right for this game so the pattern work we did was great. We saw those in evidence here. The goal needed finishing and Tys is lethal on his left foot.”

“I told the boys before the game that Coventry wasn’t good enough. We had to get the balance right & not be one-dimensional. We’re playing our best stuff at home - some of that play was superb.”

“I have to mention the back five. Dom Gape was outstanding. Sido & Dan were imperious. JJ is evergreen. Everyone will look at our goals but we had a very solid base.”

“Fans voiced their anger on Friday and have shown disappointment at times, and I know there’s a pressure on us, but I’m really proud of where we are and sticking together will be really important now.”

“I think the fact that a team like Wycombe Wanderers can challenge for third place at this stage of the season is phenomenal and they have shown the belief that they really want to be there and that is all I need to see so lets keep out feet on the ground.”

On Eze

“The home form for Ebs is unquestionable. At Adams Park on a good pitch you are going to get the best out of that boy. He still has a lot to learn but he is learning game by game and minute by minute. If QPR can get a player back who is going to add to their squad I will have done my job. I am hoping I can see him in the hoops soon knowing I have played a big part in that."
