Dayle Southwell leaves Wanderers
Tue Jan 9, 2018 13:04

Revealed today (9th January 2018) that striker Dayle Southwell had left Wanderers to join 'National League' side Guisley for an 'undisclosed fee'.

Southwell joined Wanderers in June 2016 on a free from Boston United and went on to make 11 starts in League Two for Wycombe in 2016/17 before spending a loan spell with Lincoln City during February and March 2017.

However, made just three League Two starts for Wanderers this term. Commenting on the decision to let Southwell go, Gareth Ainsworth said:

ďI had high hopes for Dayle when he came here and unfortunately it just hasnít worked out how we would have wanted. Nobody could ever fault Dayleís effort and dedication because he worked his socks off in every training session and every game he played, but he hasnít been able to force his way into the starting line-up regularly enough.

ďHeís a great lad and Iím sure heíll benefit from regular football at Guiseley. We wish him all the best for the future.Ē

Totalled 32 appearances for Wanderers (12 from the bench) and scored on two occasions - home to Stevenage in League Two in September 2016, plus a goal in Wanderers 5-1 home reverse in the Football League Trophy to Bristol Rovers in August 2017.
