Fri Jan 19, 2018 17:11

Wanderers announced the loan signing of Watford striker Randell Williams on Friday afternoon (19th January 2018). The deal for the 21-year-old will run for the remainder of the 2017/18 campaign.

Williams was originally a youngster with Tottenham Hotspur but started his senior football with Tower Hamlets in the ninth tier of English football before being signed by Crystal Palace as a winger in January 2016. However, he was released from The Eagles in the summer of 2017 and then picked up by Watford shortly afterwards. Featured for The Hornets U23 side but didn’t net his first goals until switching to a more central position in November 2017.

Commenting in the arrival of Williams, Manager Gareth Ainsworth said:

“Randell has looked really sharp in training and he gives us another option in attack as we move into the final few months of the season. He’s lightning quick, very direct, and I’m sure he can learn a lot from some fantastic experienced players that we’ve got here.

“With Nathan McGinley and Tafari Moore joining us last week, the squad is looking stronger with more options available, so competition for places will be fierce and that’s a good problem for a manager to have.”

Williams was allocated the No.24 in the Wanderers squad and will be available for the trip to Crewe Alexandra on Saturday (20th January).
