I went with experience. These boys have done it before, they know how to perform in these types of games and they know how to win promotion, so we set up for a real battle and that’s what we got.
“It might be different against Grimsby [on Easter Monday]. We had plenty of firepower on the bench and we’re going into the game looking for the three points, because we know that if we can keep clean sheets and start scoring freely again then nobody can stop us.”
"I’m very happy. We had the lion’s share of chances. We had one disallowed and their keeper’s made a great save but Scott Brown has made a fantastic one too at the other end. It was a real blood and guts game between two teams fighting at the top and neither wanted to give in.
“I’m proud of the boys. It was a real cup tie atmosphere and a tough place to come because Notts County have got a really good home record. I thought Adam El-Abd was outstanding at the back and we’ve now kept three clean sheets in four games.
“The big message for the boys before the game was about control. We had to control our emotions and control what we do, because when you’re out of control, that’s when mistakes can happen. We needed to keep our focus for 90 plus minutes and that’s what we did. Now we need to recover the legs and back it up on Monday.”
Wanderers stay in 3rd spot - four points clear of 4th placed Notts County 5th placed Exeter City are five points behind but have a game in hand over both Wanderers and County. Luton Town continue to implode with a 2-1 defeat at Colchester, leaving Accrington to extend their lead at the top of the table with 1-0 victory away to Mansfield Town.
