Kit change for Forest Green tie - Early April Fool?
Mon Aug 27, 2018 10:56

Wycombe Wanderers will be required to wear their orange and grey change strip for the Carabao Cup Round Two tie against Forest Green Rovers at Adams Park on Tuesday evening (k.o. 7.45pm).

A delay in the delivery of Forest Green’s new home and change strips has left them with only their third-choice light blue strip available, which would create a clash with the Chairboys’ regular light and dark blue quartered shirt.

The EFL have therefore formally requested that the preferred outcome for these exceptional circumstances is for Wycombe to switch to their change kit.

The club accepts that this is an unfortunate and unwanted situation for both teams but after exploring all other possibilities, have reluctantly accepted the EFL’s decision on this occasion.

An EFL spokesman said: “The EFL would like to place on record its thanks and appreciation to Wycombe Wanderers for the assistance they have given both the League and Forest Green Rovers in helping to find a workable solution for what has been a challenging set of circumstances for both clubs.”

A previous occasion Wanderers wore a change kit at home in a competitive fixture was 1957.
