Getting back to the USA after leaving New Guinea

This is directed to Mr. Frank Hohmann who noted in a response to a recent message that he separated from the 43rd BG on June 6, 1944. My brother T/SGT Louis S. Barone 403rd BS,separated on the same date from the 43rd. I am curious as to how you guys returned to the USA. We never heard that part of the story and Louis has not been around since 1983 for me to ask. Thank you.
