Hi I am looking for any information on a john morris who was cherokee indian. He married a mary elizabeth smith. I have found him on the 1910, 1920, 1930 census. but he is listed as white. You can tell beyond a doubt in photos and recent family members that their is beyond a doubt indian blood. mary and john had a son named james and many other children. James is my grandfather, they said he was red skinned. There has been mention of the name redwing as well as red cloud and at some point someone got kicked off a reservation and changed the name to morrison and then morris. I am also interested in lilly mitchell who was full blooded indian and she married an irish man named thomas hancock and they had a daughter named johnnie henry hancock and other children. please any help you have would be greatly appreciated.
