Rediscover The RMS Titanic One Artifact at a Time

Artifact Feature: Gold Coin

Although Las Vegas may be an unlikely place to discover artifacts from miles below the North Atlantic, Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition at Luxor is home to one of the largest RMS Titanic artifact collections in the world. Recovered in 1987, the gold sovereign coin, featured above, is one of 543 coins discovered on the ocean floor and can be found inside Luxor Hotel & Casino. Before being carried onboard the Ship of Dreams, the coin had remained much the same for three hundred years and was based on a system that had existed for more than a millennium. The rich history of this remarkable gold coin laid the foundation for modern coins, which eventually evolved into the iconic experience of classic Vegas with the sounds of clinking coins and excited, lucky winners.
