Witnesses follow in order of how the events developed. M.A. Smith was called, sworn in, and excused. Why do they call a witness to the stand? Usually they have testimony related to the events!
W.A. Cuddy testified after Smith as the witnesses were following a specific pattern of testimony. Smith than had similar statements related to the gunfight. There is an obvious equation here, simple really.
