I was the history rep at Doc HolliDays in Tombstone this weekend, presenting "Doc Holliday: Man, Myth & Movies" in three sessions at the Tombstone Courthouse State Park. They needed some real history to add to the movie hoopla, and I was happy to provide! I spoke for over an hour each time, giving a Powerpoint presentation that outlined John Henry Holliday's life from his childhood in Georgia to his last days in Colorado, and dispelling many of the legendary additions to his real history. We had a good turnout, though of course not nearly as many as for Val's events! It was a fun weekend, and we enjoyed visiting with friends who came from a distance to join in: Lynn and Bud Thomas (Doc's 1st cousins from Valdosta, who were there to judge the Doc Look Alike Contest); Dr. Richard Thomas of Crestview, Florida (who owns Doc's dental equipment and displays it to the public); Wyatt Earp doing his "Gentleman Doc Holliday" one man show; and fans from all over the country. Ran into Terry Ike Clanton at dinner, and our Arizona author friend Soni Cido. I was disappointed, however, not to see more of the history group there. Maybe next year? This was a first annual, so hopefully no monsoon at next year's birthday party!

Hi Vicki, we missed out on your presentations. It was a pleasant surprise to see you and your husband at the evening VIP event Saturday night. I had challenged my friend Terry Ike Clanton to a public ... more
