Re: Disagree in part
Sat Dec 24, 2011 00:30

I didn't say the "Old Guard" asserts themselves to enforce prevailing attitudes. I don't know where you're getting that.

I'm saying over all, if (As was my case)a member introduces and maintains perspectives that run counter to the status quo, then eventually that member will receive the kind of treatment I did.

That treatment came from an active member...

The "old guard" didn't rear it's head to intercede.

My views weren't radical or provoking, at least not to anyone half way rational and reasonable with a fair and open mind. Trust me, I was NOT provoking ANYONE.

What I was guilty of was presenting opinions (And standing by them) that took them out of their comfort zone.

And what was really crazy about it from my perspective is, like I said, I wasn't being radical or ridiculous, OR deliberately provoking.

So my reward for my participation and views, for offering the needed "stimulation" you mentioned, was to receive insults.

Now that's as plain as I can be without going into details, which I refuse to do.

The obvious reason you're not seeing what I have described is because there's no one there from without that posits any views deemed too much outside what is acceptable.

(And they certainly can be petty and extremely narrow about that.)

And that's EXACTLY why the board consists of a small clique- (Definition: A small group of people with shared interests, who spend time together and exclude others.)

And it's exactly WHY the board is dying.

If you don't believe pettiness can't exist over there, then who do you think made this original post?:

The Grim Reaper.

The Death of a Board!

Answer: One of it's members.

I mean THIS board has been dead for ages, why make a post gloating about it?

And that brings us full circle once again. Like I said, and we both agree upon, it's unseemly for the dying to gloat about the dead

I fully agree the gloating is unseemly. For the most part, this board was a well regarded and appreciated "place". If the gloating is being done by someone who asserts or implies that the cave board... more

As familiar as I am with the cave board, I have no clue as to who made the grim reaper post here. The people I know who were once here and are now over there - I don't think any of them would gloat,... more

Hope you have an enjoyable, Happy Holiday Weekend too. As for posting the link to the thread where my incident took place, I'd rather not. And incidentally, for the first time in a VERY LONG time, I... more

I didn't mean to imply I was responding to a "gloat" made by you. Upon re-reading what i had written, it can come across that way. I meant I was just responding to your POST.

Got it. Interestingly, it has been a bit of a surge week for the old guard. Some of the names you see there currently have gone weeks or months w/o a post. Well, we just might be dancing on different ... more

In my opinion The Adventures Continue on Facebook has become the new home for the "old guard" etc..

From what I've seen, with the exception of a very few people, most of the posters at the Caveboard are the very same people that used to post here. Facebook would only be a logical extension and... more
